Dr Li received his PhD in mathematics from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2008. His research interest is applied nonlinear dynamical system. His PhD thesis research focused on the mathematical modeling and analysis of nonlinear oscillations in the chemical reaction system by invariant manifold theorems.

Since then, he had been a Postdoc Associate in the Institute for Mathematics and Its Applications at the University of Minnesota. His recent research studied the intracellular signal transduction by modelling open signaling cascade, in which the number of phosphorylation-dephosphorylation cycles plays an important role.

In September 2010, he joined the USRA as a Research Scientist. Working in Dr Francis Cucinotta's group at the NASA JSC, he will conduct research and in silico modeling of the effect of space radiation exposure on the human's health, mainly of degeneratives disease such as Alzheimer's disease and heart disease.
