Jonathan Phillips received his B.S. (1996) in Molecular Biology from Florida Tech and his Ph.D. (2004) in Cell Biology from the University of Massachusetts-Worcester. Jonathan’s graduate work involved studying the physical and biochemical influences of integrins and matrix metalloproteinases on cellular tissue remodeling in three-dimensional culture. Jonathan joined USRA’s Division of Space Life Sciences in 2004 as a BFSB Postdoctoral Fellow and begins his postdoctoral research work with Drs. Eduardo Almeida and Ruth Globus of NASA’s Mechanobiology Research group at Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California. His research will focus on the influence of the ß1 integrin and its related signaling pathways on bone tissue remodeling.
