Jason L. Boyd received Ph.D. in Toxicology (2003) from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy. His graduate work involved pharmacokinetic characterization of novel nucleoside analogues in rats as well as pharmacokinetic modelling of volatile organic compounds present in ground water as contaminants. Following his graduation, he joined the Pharmacotherapeutics Laboratory at the NASA Johnson Space Center whose activities include among other things pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics research, therapeutic drug monitoring, specialized therapeutic monitoring for spaceflight-related pathophysiology, novel dosage form development, and pharmaceutical stability assessment. He also contributes to the Digital Astronaut Project whose goal is to quantitatively describe and simulate human physiology changes in conditions of hypogravity and other conditions common to spaceflight.
