Matthew J. Hayat received his B.S. in Applied Probability and Statistics (1994) and M.S. in Statistics (1996) from Northern Illinois University and his Ph.D. in Biostatisics (2003) from the Medical College of Wisconsin. His graduate work involved developing statistical methods using Bayesian inference for analyzing longitudinal data. Following his graduation, he joined the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a Biostatistician with the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) and researched risk factors associated with hearing loss. Prior to joining the Biostatistics Laboratory, Dr. Hayat worked as a Biostatistician within the SEER Program and Cancer Statistics Branch at the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
