David Holtzclaw received his B.S. (1994) and M.S. (1998) in Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University and The University of Cincinnati, respectively, and his Ph.D. (2001) in Biomedical Engineering also from The University of Cincinnati. In 2001, he was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship by the Fellowships in Research and Science Teaching (FIRST) Program at Emory University where he began his postdoctoral studies. He also served as an adjunct instructor at Clark Atlanta University.
Dr. Holtzclaw joined USRA’s Division of Space Life Sciences in 2004 as a BFSB Postdoctoral Fellow working with Dr. Clarence Sams of NASA’s Cellular and Molecular Research Laboratories at Johnson Space Center. His research will focus on the immune system, particularly on T-cell activation in a microgravity environment.
