Shaowen Hu, Ph.D.
Research Scientist
Shaowen.Hu-1@nasa.gov
Shaowen Hu received his B.S. in Chemistry (1991) from Beijing Normal University, M.S. in Computational Chemistry (2002) from the University of New Brunswick in Canada, and Ph.D. in Chemical Physics (2006) from the University of Houston in US. Before his research career he had worked as a Chemistry teacher in Wuhan Chemical Engineering School in China. His graduate works involved modeling and computational study on the clusters of glycolic acid and water molecules, mathematical characterization of the dynamics of pattern formation, and theoretical analysis of self-assembly of nanostructures. In April 2006, he joined the DSLS as a Research Scientist working on the Space Radiation Project. Dr. Hu’s current research focuses on the models of blood-forming system under normal and irradiation conditions, and the theoretical/computational study of DNA damage and repair via molecular dynamics approach.
