Associate Program Scientist
jancy.c.mcphee@nasa.gov

Dr. McPhee earned her B.A. in Neurobiology and Behavior from Cornell University and her Ph.D. in Biophysics from Brandeis University. Her graduate work at Brandeis and subsequent postdoctoral research at the University of Washington and the California Institute of Technology used molecular biological, electrophysiological and biochemical techniques to analyze the structure and function of cellular receptors and ion channels. Just prior to her arrival at USRA in 2004, she had been working with NASA, assisting with the development and management of several aspects of the space life sciences research program. While at USRA, she has planned and coordinated several projects in human health and performance, including the international Multidisciplinary Artificial Gravity Project, Digital Astronaut Project and the Space Oxidation and Antioxidant Research Working Group.  Currently, she is Associate Program Scientist for NASA’s Human Research Program Science Management Office, where she has developed policies and processes for the effective evaluation and management of the research program.  Recently, she coordinated the program-wide examination, capture, and public display of the evidence for risks to the human on future exploration missions.
