GENERAL INFORMATION

The 4th International Systems Radiation Biology Workshop will be held May 20–22, 2010 at The New York University (NYU) Langone Medical Center in New York City.  This workshop will provide a forum for research scientists to discuss the application of systems biology approaches to issues in radiation biology, radiation protection, and radiotherapy.

Systems radiation biology is a new field that addresses classic problems in radiation biology by integrating the biology of DNA damage with extracellular signaling pathways and transcriptional regulatory networks in a multicellular organism. Computational models of complex mechanisms that provide experimentally testable predictions are beginning to provide a better understanding of health risks such as cancer and degenerative disease.

Workshop attendance is limited and registration is required for all attendees.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

NOTE:  Only a few submitted abstracts will be selected for presentation.

Abstracts will be published in a Workshop Abstract Volume with the Program and Participant List.

Abstract Submission Instructions
Abstract submissions must be received by e-mail to info@dsls.usra.edu no later than Midnight Central time on Friday, May 7, 2010.

We ask that you submit your abstract in PDF format. This will give you more control over the quality of your published abstract. Be sure to set your preferences to embed the fonts in the PDF document.  If you are unable to comply with this request to submit your abstract file in PDF format, please contact Kellie Rogers at 281-244-2011 or e-mail info@dsls.usra.edu for further information.

General Abstract Formatting Instructions
Abstracts should be formatted to fit on 8.5" x 11" paper with 1" margins on all sides. Abstracts should be no longer than one single-spaced page; up to two additional pages of supporting material, such as charts, graphs, text, and figures, may accompany the abstract. The font should be 10 pt Times New Roman. The abstract title should be bold and centered at the top of the page.

The names of all authors should be in caps and lower case, followed by their addresses in caps and lower case. Both author names and addresses should be centered. First level titles should be all caps; second level titles should be caps and lower case. Please refer to the template for exact placement. The abstract file MUST include the title, authors, and affiliations.

Paper Size
Please set up your source file so that your submitted abstract is formatted for U.S. letter size (8.5" x 11".)

Fonts
Please use Times New Roman for text; Symbol for mathematical symbols and Greek letters.

Abstract Template
Download the sample abstract and using the format illustrated in the sample, prepare your abstract for submission. You are responsible for the formatting and appearance of your abstract. Figures and tables must be in digital format and placed in the file. We recommend that you use image file formats that provide acceptable resolution without being overly large (i.e., use a 700 KB GIF file rather than a 2-MB TIFF file). Hard copy line drawings AND photographs can be easily converted to high quality digital format using ordinary flatbed scanners and accompanying software.
