Jeffrey Ryder is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse (1993), Ball State University (1996) and the Karolinska Institute (2000). His graduate work and postdoctoral research at the Karolinska Institute and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas was focused on the intracellular signaling mechanisms that control skeletal muscle metabolism and contractile force development.
Dr. Ryder joined the USRA Division of Space Life Sciences in 2007 and is a Senior Scientist in the Exercise Physiology and Countermeasures Project (ExPC) at the NASA Johnson Space Center. The goal of the ExPC is to develop effective exercise methodologies and prescriptions to prevent the negative physiological effects of reduced gravity during space exploration.
