Dr. Teresa E Tutt received a B.S. in Engineering Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1997, an M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1999, and a PhD in Nuclear Engineering/Health Physics from Texas A&M University in 2007.
Teresa's PhD work involved experimental validation of Monte-Carlo calculations in high energy electron dosimetry. Master’s level work at MIT involved the measurement of hydrogen isotope ratios in the Alcator C-Mod fusion reactor, and their effect on Ion Cyclotron Resonance Frequency (ICRF) heating efficiency. Prior to PhD study, Teresa spent several years in private industry, providing activation analysis and detailed dosimetry for new types of radioisotope implants for interstitial brachytherapy.
Dr. Tutt's current work at DSLS is the investigation of the space radiation environment and its effect on the health and safety of spaceflight crews.
