William T. Wallace, Ph.D.
Research Scientist
William.Wallace-1@nasa.gov

William (Billy) Wallace acquired his Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2003 where his graduate work involved the study of gas-phase gold cluster reactions as applied to heterogeneous catalysis. Following graduation, Dr. Wallace continued in the study of heterogeneous catalysis by performing surface science studies on metal surfaces at Texas A&M University as a postdoctoral associate. He joined USRA at NASA Johnson Space Center in December of 2006.

Dr. Wallace’s current research is centered on the understanding of lunar dusts and simulants with regards to their activation. The long-term goal of this research is to develop methods for deactivating the dust on the lunar surface, thereby alleviating problems that were encountered on previous lunar missions.
